Miramar Air Show Spectator Guidelines
We are happy to have you, your friends and your family as our guests here at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. We will do everything to ensure that your Air Show experience is safe and enjoyable. Every effort will be made to minimize delays in entering and leaving the Air Show.
We ask for your cooperation in keeping potentially dangerous items safely outside the flight line gates. At the entry points to the air show flight line, ALL bags will be quickly inspected and all individuals are subject to search prior to entering the air show flight line.
To speed up the process, there will be checkpoints at all three flight line entrances four additional checkpoints throughout the air station to alleviate wait times. Large bags, large backpacks, large ice chests and coolers will not be permitted. It is recommended that spectators minimize the number and size of permitted items to reduce the inspection time prior to access into the flight line area.
There will be two entrance lines at each gate. One will be for people carrying bags, or other items to be inspected. Please note that this security policy applies to all military and civilian personnel, and is currently in effect 365 days a year.
Prohibited items
The following items will not be permitted on the flight line and are subject to confiscation:
• Weapons (regardless of permit) including firearms, knives (including pocket knives
and multi-tools), replica or toy weapons, pepper spray or stun guns
• Alcoholic beverages, unless purchased from approved vendors
• Ice chests or coolers larger than 2 gallons (That’s a lunch-box size)
• Pets, other than service animals
• Glass containers
• Bicycles, roller skates, roller blades, scooters or skateboards
• Backpacks/Bags larger than 8 1/2 x 11 inches (standard backpacks)
Permitted items
The following items are permitted on the flight line. All permitted items will be inspected prior to admission to the flight line. It is strongly recommended that spectators minimize the number and size of permitted items to reduce access time into the flight line area.
• Children's wagons (non-motorized)
• Small or medium (hand carried) ice chests or coolers (No crushed ice, ice packs only)
• Standard backpacks
• PCS/cellular phones, pagers and FRS transceivers
• Handheld portable televisions, radios and VHF scanners
• Fanny packs and purses, or bags 8 1/2 x 11 inches or smaller
• Food and beverages (non-alcoholic)
• Cameras and camcorders
• Folding chairs and lawn chairs
• Umbrellas
• Wheelchairs
• Baby diaper bags and strollers, if attending with an infant or small child (Stroller
parking is available in a designated area behind the grandstands. Strollers are not
permitted in the grandstand seating area.)
Please note
• Unattended bags and packages will be removed from the premises
• Strollers and wheelchairs will be available for rent at the Air Show, click here.
• Sun protection, including hat, long-sleeved shirts and long pants and sun screen are
recommended
• Water will be available throughout the Air Show area
• Wear comfortable footgear; the flight line is paved and you may walk long distances
Smoking
Smoking is not permitted near aircraft or in hangars, including the Air Show Expo and static display area inside Hangar 3.
General Air Show Parking Information
Welcome to the MCAS Miramar Air Show!
You must have a valid drivers license, current registration and proof of insurance to bring your vehicle onto a military base. If driving a rental car, valid drivers license, proof of insurance & car rental agreement will be required.
Security personnel will direct you from the gate to your parking area. There may be adjustments prior to the Air Show.
For your Safety
To ensure the safety of the Air Show and its participants, large coolers, large ice chests, large bags and backpacks will not be permitted on the flight line. Essential carryalls such as baby bags will be carefully inspected. Strollers and wheelchairs will not be available for rent at the Air Show. Glass containers and alcoholic beverages are not allowed and will be confiscated. Pets, bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, skates or scooters of any type are prohibited on the flight line.
Important Gate and Road Closure Information
A section of Kearny Villa Rd. from Miramar Rd. to Harris Plant Rd. will be closed to motor vehicle and bicycle traffic from noon until 4 p.m., or until the Blue Angels performance is over.
FREE GENERAL ADMISSION may use the North, East/Main or West Gates; drivers will be directed to general parking areas.
GRANDSTAND & BOX SEAT ticket holders may use the North, East/Main or West Gates; drivers will be directed to general parking areas.
