Phantasia, "The Woman in White Suite" always crosses my mind when I see (or take) these pictures. Not because the music has anything to do with PP but reminds me to get the correct collor. However I've never got white suite in details and still had great skintone especially under the bright sun. My final pp alway head shoot only.
You handle the bright background very well too. That is somthing I have to learn.

Was uploaded before but then took it out; hope it stays this time, coz it's not one of my favorites.
That is an excellent poster.
I did it again in white dress and bright background.
I knew part of the reason.
I won't say I did "偷拍 ". They know I am there like other people to take snap shot.
I hate to bother them poss for me. Sometimes people will look at me (lens). I don't want to miss this chance to take picture with eye contact with viewer, unfortunately, not react fast enough to change setting.
I use channel mix learned from Mike to bring it back a little better, still not quite good to save the white.
Did I set the correct skintone?

Actually the primary principle for an effective background is two folds:
1. Separating from the main subject; and
2. Complementing the subject.
(kinda like: "I am not with you, but I am with you" -- see what I am saying.
)
In other words, the background helps to present the main subject -- which is the goal of a good composition. Therefore, it CAN be in light color or even pure white.
Regarding your PS, I would say it's a good job. However, the composition has room for improvement.

You will find a lot of information on the rule.
"Rule of Thirds" is one of the most important rules in composition and it applies to landscape, portraiture and macro photography and painting as well.
