Surf City Surf Dog entrants will compete in four weight-class divisions, as well as a tandem heat, and will be judged on a variety of skills, including the duration of their ride and their confidence on the board. Marine conditions such as the size of the wave will also be taken into consideration. Prizes will be awarded to the top dogs but, and all participants will be recognized.
Dogs who prefer to keep all four paws on dry land still can strut their stuff by entering the Frosty Paws® Canine Costume, Owner/Dog Look-a-Like contests and/or Doga (dog/human yoga class). The public and their pets are welcome at the two-day Eukanuba Expo in Downtown Huntington Beach, that will feature more than 40 pet-related vendors and organizations.
A new highlight of the event will be a special prize from event sponsor Action Cam by Sony. From a bird’s eye view to a dog’s eye view and everywhere in between, the Action Cam by Sony is the perfect companion for capturing all the excitement of Surf City Surf Dog. Registered participants are invited to the Sony space on Sunday to borrow an Action Camera and mounts, in order to become Sony’s Surf City Dogumentarists! Three of the best videographers, as determined by Sony’s video crew, will get to go home with one of Sony’s 2nd generation Action Cams. In addition, first place winners in each weight class will receive their own Sony Action Cam pack.

A portion of the event entry fees will benefit the following official charity partners: Barks of Love Animal Rescue, Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue, Southern California Bulldog Rescue, Huntington Dog Beach, Orange County Humane Society and Westie Rescue of Orange County.
Registration fees vary for the activities. The Opening Ceremonies and Fashion Show have a suggested donation of $10, the Surf Dog competition is $50, while the Eukanuba 2-Day Expo, Closing Ceremonies and general event attendance are free and open to the public and their well behaved, leashed, four-legged friends.
